The tribute is twofold. First, the uniqueness lies in the strap: a rubber core covered in cactus leather. Because the world's ecosystems are facing severe damage, better coordination of flora and fauna is needed. Plant straps are an alternative to leather straps, and the cactus strap included with the new Big Bang Unico Titanium Green Ceramic watch is one of them. It has the durability, color and performance of leather, but has an almost unlimited regeneration capacity, is 100% natural, chemical-free and fully traceable.
The use of the cactus strap is in line with Hublot’s vision of presenting pioneering, unique and distinctive projects at SIAR. But its charm doesn't stop there: Cactus leather is non-allergenic, virtually scratch-resistant, available in a variety of finishes and colors, and is incredibly smooth to the touch. But that's not the only design nod to Mexico. The watch features a unified dark green hue inspired by the Mexican flag, with the first green stripe representing the country’s independent spirit. An image that is symbolic, powerful and full of history. Hublot fully possesses this independence, and its raison d'etre is innovation and subversion.
Hublot combines expertise in different fields to create a unified green appearance. The bezel is made of colored ceramic to match the natural green color of the strap. The surface is micro-sandblasted and polished for a long-lasting look: ceramic is scratch-resistant and unalterable.
The dial flange and the small seconds dial at 3 o'clock are painted with lacquer and blend perfectly with the bezel. And the new Big Bang Unico titanium green ceramic watch is a pure skeleton timepiece, showing the exquisite mechanism of the homemade Unico movement (3-day power reserve). At the 6 o'clock position, you can see the iconic column wheel. The date disc surrounding the movement is embossed with extreme precision, ensuring that each date passes through a specially designed aperture in the small seconds dial without any loss of geometry or harmony. The watch also comes with a second strap with Velcro® fastening.
